Water polo is a team played water activity that requires strength, speed, stamina, flexibility and fitness.


It is a unique sport encompassing both handball skills (ball passing and scoring) and swimming skills (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly stroke).

The following skills could be gained with the practice of Water Polo:

  • Freestyle swimming with head above water level
  • Backstroke swimming while being in a sitting position
  • Ball handling skills (passing, receiving and shooting)
  • Swimming with ball in hand
  • Goalkeeper skills
